Livermore Homeless Refuge Financial Contributions
The Livermore Homeless Refuge (LHR) is a non-profit organization, but it does not yet possess the Internal Revenue Service non-profit distinction as a 501(c)3 public charity. The Refuge's Advisory Council is currently in conversation concerning taking the next logical step in the organizations's evolution, namely, the necessary legal and administrative steps to secure 501(c)3 public charity status.
Why is the distinction important to share? In the interest of honesty and transparent reporting, it is important to note that financial gifts made to the Refuge are not tax deductible. When the Refuge has secured it's 501(c)3 public charity status, then all donations made to the Refuge will be tax deductible.
In the meantime, if you are interested in making a contribution to the Refuge that is tax deductible, you might consider making a donation to one of the Refuge's host congregations - Asbury United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and/or Vineyard Christiand Fellowship - and designate your contribution to the Refuge, noting the recipient in the memo line of your personal or business check. Each church will then redirect your tax-deductible gift to the Refuge.
If you are interested in making a financial contribution, please make checks payable to: Livermore Homeless Refuge.
